The garbage-collection company already employed 75 in Springfield. With the purchase of Sunrise, effective Dec. 28, it added six employees and approximately 7,300 customers.
WCA Springfield Division Manager David Cepero said the switchover has begun, and trucks and containers soon will be repainted to bear the WCA name. Though operations won’t change drastically, Cepero says collections will be made more efficient.
“Right now, there might be a WCA garbage can and a Sunrise garbage can next to it,” he said. “Through the integration process, there will be just one truck driving down the street, picking up both containers.”
No Sunrise employees will be let go in the change.
Cepero did not disclose WCA’s purchase price for Sunrise, 2530 E. Jean. Sunrise generates approximately $1.3 million in revenue annually, according to a WCA news release.[[In-content Ad]]
