Washington University turns down $6M in CARES Act funding

St. Louis-based Washington University declined $6.4 million in Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security funding.

"After careful consideration of the possible regulatory liabilities associated with the fund, we have concluded that accepting this funding would not be the correct course of action for our long-term recovery," university officials said in a statement.

Other universities, such as Harvard, have declined to accept or have returned CARES Act funding. President Donald Trump has criticized Harvard University for accepting money thruogh the stimulus bill.
