Washington aviation firm bringing 600 jobs to KC

Everett, Wash.-based aviation maintenance and overhaul firm Aviation Technical Services has committed to bringing about 600 jobs to a maintenance base at the Kansas City International Airport.

The company plans to invest $57 million and lease 607,000 square feet at KCI's Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul base, according to the Seattle Times.

The workers would service wide-body and narrow-body commercial and military transport jet aircraft. ATS expects to begin work in Kansas City by next spring.

The new operation would be ATS' first outside of Washington state.
