WarnerMedia CEO John Stankey was promoted to chief operating officer of AT&T.
AT&T bought and renamed Time Warner last year.
Stankey is slated to keep his CEO position at WarnerMedia when he takes on the COO role at AT&T on Oct. 1.
“Now is the time to more tightly align our collection of world-class content, scaled consumer relationships, technical know-how and innovative advertising technology,” AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson said, noting Stankey is “an outstanding executive who has led nearly every area of our business, helped shape our strategy and excelled at operations throughout his career.”
