Walton Foundation awards $1.9M to public school leadership program

The Walton Family Foundation has awarded a $1.9 million grant to the University of Arkansas Foundation and the College of Education and Health Professions to fund a program that aims to put skilled administrators in some of the poorer school districts in the state.

Dubbed the Principal Fellows program, during the next four years it will train 60 administrators through a one-year, high-impact leadership course that focuses on addressing math and literacy proficiencies in students, according to Arkansas Business.

The objective is to improve student outcomes and fuel economic growth in the state.
