Walton family stock holdings worth over $130B

While the Tyson family stock in Tyson Foods Inc. (NYSE: TSN) has increased by about $1 billion over the past year, they are still holding pennies on the dollar compared to the Waltons.  

The publicly disclosed stock fortune held by the Waltons, the founding family of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT), is worth more than $130 billion.

Arkansas Business compared the stock values of some of the state’s most prominent families, including the holdings of Tyson Foods Chairman John Tyson and his brother’s widow, Barbara Tyson. The Tyson family stock is valued at just under $2.97 billion, up from a value of $2.07 billion on Nov. 8, 2013. In October 2012, their stock was valued at $1.15 billion when the per share price was about $16, compared to around $41 per share now.

J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. (Nasdaq: JBHT) stock has jumped by 9 percent in the past year, putting the holdings of the family of founder J.B. Hunt at roughly $1.55 billion.
