Walton family members give away $407M in shares

The surviving children of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT) founder Sam Walton – Alice, Rob and Jim – collectively donated 6.7 million shares of company stock to nonprofit organization Walton Family Holdings Trust.

The shares have a combined worth of roughly $407 million based on the stock’s Dec. 28 closing price of $60.74 per share, which was the day filings were made with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

According to Arkansas Business, filings show Alice Walton parted with 3.7 million shares ­­ – roughly $225 million – and Rob and Jim Walton each gave away 1.5 million shares worth about $182 million.
