Walmart plans to hire 40,000 seasonal and permanent employees ahead of the holiday shopping season.
The figure is lower than the 170,000 new positions the retailer announced for the holiday season last year.
Walmart officials said “staffing is stronger heading into this holiday season than it was last year.”
