Walmart sues federal government in preemptive move

Walmart filed a preemptive lawsuit against the federal government.

The retailer claims in the suit that the Justice Department and Drug Enforcement Administration are seeking to scapegoat the company for their own shortcomings in the opioid crisis.

In the suit, Walmart officials are asking for a federal court declaration that the government does not have a lawful basis to seek civil damages based on claims that pharmacists filled questionable prescriptions.
