Walmart Inc. (NYSE: WMT) is in preliminary talks to buy insurer Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), according to reporting by The Wall Street Journal. The terms are unclear, but Humana’s current market value is $37 billion.
Bentonville, Arkansas-based Walmart is a major drugstore operator and has a market value of $260 billion.
In 1999, the world’s biggest retailer bought Asda Group PLC for $10.8 billion.
