Sherry Wallace, spokeswoman and marketing director for the airport since 2000, resigned Aug. 1 from her post. Her last day with the airport was Aug. 15.
Wallace could not be reached for comment.
Gary Cyr, director of aviation for the airport, said a replacement has not yet been found.
“We’re in the process, through September, of looking to fill that position through the normal city channels,” he said, adding that he guesses a new employee will be in the position by early to mid-November.
Cyr said Wallace did not disclose the exact reason for her departure, citing only personal reasons. He is also unsure of Wallace’s future plans.
Wallace’s resignation comes at a time when the airport has a $140 million replacement terminal in the planning stages. A $4 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration was accepted by Springfield City Council Aug. 22 for the second phase design for the new terminal.
More information on the airport, as well as its ongoing parking issues, will be in the Aug. 29 issue of SBJ.
