Wal-Mart to launch own mobile pay system

The world’s largest retailer is testing a mobile payment system allowing shoppers to pay through the store’s app – using credit, debit and gift cards – at registers.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is piloting the app at Bentonville, Ark., area stores before launching the new system in more than 4,500 U.S. locations next year.

According to The Associated Press, 22 million customers use Wal-Mart’s app each month, and more than half of the company's online orders are made from mobile devices.
