Wal-Mart tests convenience store prototype

Posted online
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. opened a "Walmart To Go" store on March 19 in Bentonville, Ark., according to Arkansas Business. The location is labelled a "convenience store test concept."

The 2,500-square-foot space offers gasoline and traditional convenience store items.

"One of the unique aspects of the store is all the items are priced at Wal-Mart everyday low prices," Deisha Barnett, the senior director of corporate communications, told Arkansas Business.

The retailer is also testing a grocery delivery service with a similar name, WalmartToGo.com.

Barnett told Arkansas Business the convenience store concept is a one-off project with no plans for future locations across the country.
