Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Sam's Club employees, customers and members have raised $253,438 for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals at CoxHealth.

The total represents the largest yet for the 25th annual Wal-Mart and Sam's Club six-week fundraiser for the nonprofit children's organization. It marks a 37 percent increase from last year's campaign, according to a news release from CoxHealth.

“Taken together, small gifts add up and can really make a positive impact for the children and families we serve," said Tim Siebert, executive director of CMN Hospitals at CoxHealth, in the release.

CMN Hospitals at CoxHealth uses funding for needs such as equipment, research and education.

The Wal-Mart and Sam's Club campaign also had its largest year on a national level, raising more than $41 million for all of the hospitals associated with the charity, the release said.
