Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT) recently issued some $4.3 million in bonuses to Missouri employees, including Springfield workers, company officials say.
The local bonuses to 1,600 workers in the Queen City were part of $157 million made nationwide to 850,000 employees. In Missouri, 25,000 received bonuses. The bonuses were reflected on the employees’ March 9 paychecks, according to a news release.
“When our associates succeed, the company succeeds, and the $157 million in cash bonuses we are providing nationwide represent our way of saying thank you,” said Terry Nannie, Wal-Mart vice president and general manager in Missouri, in the release.
Last month, Wal-Mart reported its 10th straight quarter of comparable sales growth. Revenue was $130.94 billion, lower than analysts’ expectations of $131.22 billion, according to CNBC.
WMT shares were trading at $71.03 as of 11:09 a.m., compared with a 52-week range of $62.72 to $75.19.
