Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is adding two distribution centers focused specifically on filling online orders, according to an
Associated Press story published by MSN Money.
New facilities located in Fort Worth, Texas, and Bethlehem, Pa., will join the existing 130 distribution centers, and will generate more than 600 jobs for Wal-Mart.
Wal-Mart plans to double the amount of items available in its online store, and has seen online sales increase 30 percent in the second quarter of the current fiscal year. The company also has increased projections for online sales to $10 billion from $9 billion. During the most recent fiscal year, Wal-Mart reported online sales of $7.7 billion. Total revenue was $466.1 billion.
