Kansas-based Waddell & Reed Financial Inc. informed the state it plans to cut 219 positions at its headquarters in Overland Park.
Company officials said the job reductions are directly tied to its $1.7 billion sale to Macquarie Asset Management. The acquisition was announced in December.
"All affected employees will be eligible for comprehensive financial and non-financial severance benefits, including continued subsidized health care and outplacement services to assist them in securing new jobs," Waddell & Reed officials said in a statement.
