VW, Robert Bosch settle US diesel claims

German automaker Volkswagen and German auto supplier Robert Bosch GmbH have agreed to settlements over polluting diesel-engined vehicles.

VW will pay at least $1.3 billion to fix or buy back nearly 80,000 3.0 liter vehicles. It could be forced to pay up to $4 billion if regulators don’t approve fixes for all vehicles.

Separately, Robert Bosch GmbH agreed to pay $327.5 million to compensate owners of polluting U.S. vehicles.
