VW Golf named Car of the Year

Motor Trend magazine has given the nod to the Volkswagen Golf as the Car of the Year, CNNMoney reports.
 
The compact car was described as a small, inexpensive luxury car by Motor Trend, notable for its variety of transmission and engine options, as well as style, engineering and options available.
 
All four models of the Golf received the award, the report states. The car bested 23 other new or redesigned models, including the Audi A3, BMW 2-series and Ford Mustang.
