Volkswagen is facing a trial this week as investors seek $10.7 billion in compensation.
The combined 1,670 claims allege the carmaker failed to inform investors about the scope of its diesel pollution scandal before regulators made the public aware.
Plaintiffs claim they may have avoided losses on their stock should they have known about the scandal before U.S. authorities.
