One vice president is succeeding another as two Springfield nonprofits introduce new leaders.
Rachael Walsh is scheduled to start May 28 as vice president of development at Care to Learn, according to a news release. She'll be succeeded at United Way of the Ozarks, her current employer, by Janelle Mitchell as vice president of resource development.
Walsh is taking on a newly created position at Care to Learn that will focus on fundraising, corporate partnerships, grants, special events and development initiatives.
"She is a passionate nonprofit leader with years of experience in fundraising, donor engagement and community partnerships," Care to Learn CEO Krystal Simon said in the release. "As we continue to grow and meet even more health, hunger and hygiene needs, we’re excited to have Rachael on board to help us achieve these milestones and student success stories."
With a 2025 operating budget of $6.8 million, Care to learn employs 11, said Jhasmine Watson, the nonprofit's director of operations.
At United Way of the Ozarks, Mitchell is scheduled to start May 22 as vice president of resource development, according to a separate news release. She's been the nonprofit's director of resource development since 2023.
“We extend our deepest appreciation to Rachael for her outstanding service over the past seven years," United Way President and CEO Brandi VanAntwerp said in the release. "As we look to the future, we are excited to have Janelle step into this important role. Her proven ability to build relationships and drive meaningful support will help us continue to move our mission forward.”
United Way of the Ozarks has an operating budget of roughly $2 million and 10 full- and part-time employees, according to past reporting.
