Volkswagen to close German plants, conduct layoffs

Volkswagen's employee group announced the company would close "at least" three plants in Germany.

The plans also include the layoffs of tens of thousands of workers, according to the employee group, which represents staffers and holds half the company's board seats.

The plant closures in Volkswagen's home country would be the first in its 87-year history, according to CNN.
