Volkswagen plants face stoppage as parts dispute continues

Due to a dispute with suppliers, Volkswagen  is cutting production of its Passat and Golf models at six German plants.

The slowdown could mean nearly 28,000 employees will have shorter hours or face other "flexibilization" measures.

Volkswagen last week won a court order against Cart Trim and ES Automobilguss requiring the companies to continue delivering car seat covers and cast iron parts for transmission assemblies. Volkswagen officials say the companies have not met their obligations. An appeal also is scheduled.
