Volkswagen is giving 120,000 of its workers in Germany a 5 percent pay raise over the next year and a half.
The increase - which was negotiated by the IG Metall union - applies to about 20 percent of Volkswagen's global workforce.
The company continues to face monetary and legal issues related to last year's disclosure that it fitted as many as 11 million diesel vehicles worldwide with software that could cheat nitrogen oxide emissions tests.
