Visa, Plaid scrap $5.3B deal

Visa and fintech startup Plaid terminated their $5.3 billion acquisition agreement after a legal challenge was mounted by the Department of Justice.

The federal government in November sued to block the deal over antitrust concerns. The acquisition was announced a year ago.

Plaid's technology links financial data from bank accounts to apps used to manage money, including Venmo and Coinbase.
