Volunteers and staff are registering K-12 students at the Ministry Building, 1615 Boonville Avenue, to receive free school supplies, gently used clothing from the Thrift Store and a $20 voucher good at local Wal-Mart and Kmart stores.
Registration is from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday through Aug. 3, and from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Aug 6, 8 and 10.
Families meeting free/reduced school lunch guidelines can register for the Back to School event; each child must have an original Social Security card or a Department of Family Services printout, and parents must present valid photo identification.
“Putting the right tools into the hands of our children is the first step in helping them to learn,” said Jim Harriger, Victory Mission executive director, in a news release.
Distribution for the supplies, clothing and vouchers will be Aug. 14 at Central Assembly of God, 1301 Boonville Avenue, from 8 a.m.–3 p.m. Registered families will be assigned a time to receive supplies.
In the past 17 years, Victory Mission has equipped more than 28,000 students with school supplies and clothing through its Back to School event.
