Veterans event to draw up to 50,000 visitors

Posted online
Operation Homecoming Branson is in full swing this week, and event organizers expect more than 50,000 visitors to attend.

The second annual Welcome Home event began yesterday and lasts through Sunday. The weeklong celebration is designed to show appreciation for Vietnam veterans.

The event’s opening ceremony was held this morning, and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 913 benefit show begins at 7 tonight.

Other activities throughout the week include a parade through downtown Branson, a weekend concert, helicopter rides and fishing tournaments. Click here for a full schedule of events.

“Our 2005 event allowed several units to share their reunion together, and we’re hoping that more veterans take advantage of the festivities for that purpose,” event spokesman Rob Frank said in a news release.

To attend, register online at www.welcomehome2006.org or call (800) 335-4587.[[In-content Ad]]
