Vernon County workers accused of embezzlement

Two former Vernon County Ambulance District employees are being charged with embezzling more than $260,000 from its Christmas and toy drive funds.

James McKenzie, 51, was the ambulance district's director, and Tina Werner, 51, worked as bookkeeper.

According to the U.S. attorney's office of the Western District of Missouri, Werner allegedly paid her and McKenzie's credit card bills with ambulance district money.
