Verizon workers go on strike

Nearly 40,000 Verizon workers walked off their jobs Wednesday, union officials said.

It's unclear how long the workers from Massachusetts to Virginia will be on strike.

They're seeking better pension benefits and to prevent Verizon from outsourcing jobs to contractors.
