Verizon to expand 4G coverage in SWMO

Posted online
Verizon Wireless plans to expand its 4G long-term evolution network in southwest Missouri on April 19.

According to a news release, areas where 4G LTE service will become available are:
  • between Nixa and Ozark along Highway 14;
  • west of Springfield along Interstate 44 and south of Interstate 44 to Highway 60, including the towns of Halltown, Mount Vernon, Stotts City, Sarcoxie, Pierce City, Monett, Aurora, Marionville and Billings; and
  • north of Springfield along Highway 13 about three miles south of the intersection of highways 13 and 215.
Verizon launched its 4G LTE network in southwest Missouri in November with coverage in Springfield, Branson, Ozark, Nixa, Reeds Spring, Strafford and Willard.

"Our commitment to 4G LTE is bringing customers a level of wireless data service with upload and download speeds and connectivity that is revolutionizing the way we communicate," said Brendan Fallis, president of Verizon's Kansas/Missouri region, in the release.

The 4G network enables customers to share music and photos, surf the Web and download files up to 10 times faster than they could previously, according to a separate Verizon news release.

Verizon Wireless is a subsidiary of publicly traded New York-based Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ). As of 11:36 a.m., the company's shares were trading at $37.64, compared to a 52-week range of $32.28 to $40.48.[[In-content Ad]]
