Verizon to bid $3B for Yahoo's web assets

Verizon Communications Inc. yesterday planned to submit a second-round bid of $3 billion for Yahoo Inc.'s core internet business, a personal familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal.

The telecom company is said to be the leading contender to buy Yahoo.

Yahoo is expected to hold at least one more round of bidding.
