Venezuela minimum wage to rise by 50%

Venezuela's government is raising the minimum wage and pensions by 50 percent amid runaway inflation.

President Nicolas Maduro said the action would protect jobs and incomes.

Opponents argue it may worsen the country's crisis. Venezuela's inflation rate, the highest in the world, has gutted the value of the bolivar.
