Vatterott College was acquired by Wellspring Capital Management LLC on Jan. 16. The private career college will continue to operate under the Vatterott College name, according to a news release.
Students at Vatterott's Springfield campus, as well as 15 additional campuses in Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, Tennessee, Illinois and Nebraska, will not be affected by the change.
"Wellspring is thrilled to be working with Vatterott's management team, including John Vatterott Sr., to continue to provide quality educational training to our student population," said William F. Dawson Jr., a partner of Wellspring. "We believe the opportunity for continued success is exceptional."
Wellspring Capital Management manages a group of private investment partnerships.
Vatterott College is the first educational institution Wellspring has acquired. Wellspring will be represented on the board of directors and will provide financial, strategic and operational support; however, Vatterott College's senior management will be responsible for the daily operations and decision-making.
Vatterott college was founded in 1969. It has grown at a rate of 20 percent per year and now serves approximately 9,000 students per year. Accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology, Vatterott provides hands-on, technology based training for the technical trade industries and information technology.
