Vanderbilt Mortgage sued by federal regulator

Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance, a mortgage finance firm owned by Berkshire Hathaway, has been sued by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

The lawsuit alleges the company made loans to buyers of manufactured homes that they couldn't afford.

“Vanderbilt knowingly traps people in risky loans in order to close the deal on selling a manufactured home,” said Rohit Chopra, director of the CFPB.
