Improvements to the park and surrounding property include new greenway trails, addition of two outdoor classrooms, and the completion of the outdoor initiatives offices and maintenance building.
The watershed’s stream side and spring side learning stations cost nearly $80,000 to build, funded by grants from Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Community Foundation of the Ozarks and the Griesemer family. Two classes from Ozarks Technical Community College assisted with construction.
Several other additions have also been made at the park site. Ozark Greenways recently added 1,200 feet of greenways and 120 trees to the property. The Park Board’s Outdoor Initiatives and Maintenance Center features a “green” roof to absorb rainfall and interior motion-sensitive lighting. The parks department’s outdoor initiatives offices will relocate to the site in the fall.
Weather-appropriate shoes are recommended for the dedication ceremony, which begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday. For more information, call Watershed Committee of the Ozarks at (417) 866-1127.
