Dr. Rick Bright, who this week was dismissed as director of the Department of Health and Human Services’ Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, claims he was ousted for questioning a drug promoted by President Donald Trump.
Trump has pushed the use of anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19. Reports have surfaced questioning the ability of the drug to fight the coronavirus.
Bright said the Trump administration has put “politics and cronyism ahead of science.”
“I am speaking out because to combat this deadly virus, science — not politics or cronyism — has to lead the way," Bright said.
