Vacation company ordered to shut down

Posted online
Greene County Circuit Judge Don Burrell Dec. 13 signed an order barring Star Reservations LLC from doing vacation-related business in Missouri for allegedly misleading its customers.

Attorney General Jay Nixon sued the company – registered under Richard Munson in Clever, according to the Missouri Secretary of State’s office – alleging it misrepresented certain information in the sale and advertisement of vacation packages. Nixon said the company told consumers they would have seven days to return a vacation package after purchase and they would be refunded payments, neither of which were true, according to a Nixon news release. Nixon estimates there were about 170 victims in the case.

The company is prohibited from doing business related to selling vacation packages, vacation club memberships, hotel lodging or timeshares, according to a consent injunction and final judgment obtained by Nixon. Star Reservations also must pay $70,653 in restitution to consumers.

As part of the judgment, Star Reservations also is prohibited from creating, advising or owning any nonprofit corporations in Missouri.

Any future violations of the judgment would require Star Reservations to pay $5,000 per incident.[[In-content Ad]]
