The U.S. Postal Service announced Thursday that it would temporarily stop payments for a federal pension program.
The USPS will pause $200 million payments every other week to the defined benefit portion of the Federal Employees Retirement System.
The cash-strapped USPS earlier this week received Postal Regulatory Commission approval for a temporary 8% price hike for priority mail and package deliveries.
