The U.S. Department of Agriculture intends to pay for about half of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, benefits in November.
The USDA responded to U.S. District Chief Judge John J. McConnell Jr.’s order in a four-page report. McConnell this weekend ordered the federal government to at least pay for partial benefits.
A portion of benefits to the 42 million people who receive assistance through the program are due by the end of Wednesday.
