The U.S. Department of Agriculture is relocating its St. Louis office to the downtown area from the north side of the city.
The General Services Administration, which handles real estate for federal agencies, signed a lease agreement to the tune of $72 million. The USDA will occupy more than 163,000 square feet at the corner of North Broadway and Olive Street.
A government audit last year found the USDA's current home in north St. Louis has high lead levels and cancer-causing hazards on-site.
