USA Today Co. Inc. penned a deal to buy The Detroit News after previously overseeing its advertising, circulation and production through a joint operating agreement.
The transaction is expected to close at the end of January for undisclosed terms.
USA Today Co. also operates the Detroit Free Press, which will continue as a separate product.
