The U.S. unemployment rate inched up to 6.1% in April from 6% in March, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported this morning.
Last month, U.S. employers added 266,000 jobs, the weakest month of growth since January.
Data show there are 8.2 million fewer workers on payrolls than there were before the COVID-19 pandemic.
