The Missouri Republican Party and Missouri Association of Republicans have invited U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-South Dakota) to keynote the 2011 Missouri Lincoln Days event, a gathering of Republican activists and elected officials from across the state.
"Over the years, Missouri’s Lincoln Days celebration has attracted some of the biggest names in national politics," David Cole, chairman of the Missouri Republican Party, said in a news release. "This year, we are excited that Sen. John Thune will share his vision of our party’s future with Missouri’s committed Republican volunteers and activists."
Lincoln Days will be held Feb. 25-27 at the University Plaza Hotel, 333 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway.
Thune was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004, defeating then-Democratic leader of the Senate Tom Daschle. He ran unopposed in the November 2010 general election and is now serving his second term.
Thune also served from 1996-2004 as South Dakota's sole representative for the U.S. House of Representatives. link to:
Cost for Lincoln Days registration is $20, with total event cost running upwards of $227, depending on which portions of the banquet event are attended, according to its
Web site.
The event will mark the 112th annual Missouri Lincoln Days, according to the release.[[In-content Ad]]
