U.S. Senate insists on Saturday mail delivery

Posted online
Last week, the U.S. Senate committee passed a postal reform bill prohibiting the U.S. Postal Service from moving to five-day delivery until the fourth quarter of 2017, Bloomberg Businessweek reports.

Bloomberg Businessweek reports polls show most Americans don't see a need for continued Saturday delivery.

Other countries are scaling down their mail systems as well. Canada is eliminating home deliveries in cities, New Zealand is moving to three-day delivery and the U.K. privatized its mail system last year.
