The Federal Trade Commission filed a fresh lawsuit against Facebook alleging the company is a monopoly that has illegally crushed competition.
The litigation comes two months after a federal judge threw out the FTC's original case against Facebook.
“There was no valid claim that Facebook was a monopolist — and that has not changed," company officials said in a statement. "Our acquisitions of Instagram and WhatsApp were reviewed and cleared many years ago, and our platform policies were lawful.”
