US retail sales rebound in May

U.S. retail sales in May rose by 17.7%, the largest monthly jump on record, according to data released by the federal government.

The increase came after a 14.7% drop in April amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The previous record monthly increase of 6.7% was set in October 2001 — just after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
