US representative wants SBA office in KC to move to Columbia

Posted online

U.S. Rep. Mark Alford, R-Missouri, is calling for the Small Business Administration to relocate its Kansas City office to Columbia.

The request, noted in a letter to the SBA, is part of plans to relocate offices away from sanctuary cities.

"While Kansas City is not officially a sanctuary city, its leadership has embraced policies that align with sanctuary city values, including offering to house migrants from cities overwhelmed by illegal immigration," said Alford, who chairs the House Small Business Subcommittee on Oversight, Investigations and Regulations.

He also cited Columbia's proximity to rural areas, the University of Missouri and the Missouri Small Business Development Center.
