US removes three African countries from tariff-free trade program

The United States removed Ethiopia, Guinea and Mali from the African Growth and Opportunity Act.

The tariff-free trade program, which has been in effect for two decades, provides African countries with duty-free access to the U.S. market for some 1,800 products.

Two months earlier, President Joe Biden warned the countries' access would be cut due to coups and alleged human rights violations.
