The U.S. Justice Department recovered a portion of the ransomware payment the Colonial Pipeline issued to hackers.
Federal officers seized $2.3 million in cryptocurrency from criminal hacking group DarkSide. The Colonial Pipeline reportedly paid $4.4 million to the group.
The cyberattack prompted the temporary shutdown of the pipeline last month.
