US providing $400K in hurricane aid to Haiti, Jamaica

The United States is lending a helping hand to Haiti and Jamaica as the Caribbean nations prepare for Hurricane Matthew.

The U.S. Agency for International Development provided a combined $400,000 in aid to the two countries.

The agency plans to send additional relief supplies as needed.

Matthew, a violent Category 4 storm packing 145 mile-per-hour winds, was due to pound the western tip of Haiti early on Tuesday.
